Pregnancy Update Q&A | Entering into my 3rd trimester with Baby #2!

I truly cannot believe we are already here! I feel like I blinked and here we are in the 3rd trimester. So many people told me that the second pregnancy goes a lot faster when you are busy chasing a toddler and boy, were they right. I took some time to answer a few of my most-asked questions!

What will the age gap be?

Crew’s birthday is early May and baby #2 is due late August, so our kiddos will be around 27 months apart!

Did we find out gender?

Yes - BOY MOM!!

I was planning on doing a fun photo and announcement for my socials, but life got away from me! So only our family and some friends actually know what we are having. As a blog-reader, you guys get a little inside scoop!

How I feel about having another boy:

Being a boy mom is truly the greatest thing in the entire world. My first son is such a mama’s boy and I can only hope the same for this little one. It is such a privilege to have the responsibility to raise kind, loving little boys. While I do hope I get to experience being a girl mom one day, I truly believe God knows exactly what our family needs.

Were we trying?

Yes! Our son just turned 2, and we had always hoped for a 2.5-3 year age gap. With both of our boys, we have been extremely fortunate to conceive without having to try long and for that we are so grateful. We know this isn’t the case for everyone and will never take that for granted.

How we found out:

Since we were trying, I had an idea that I was pregnant. I took a test about 5 days before I missed my period and it was a clear positive! My son woke up from his nap right as the timer was going off, so he got to join me in the bathroom to find out. Such a surreal feeling - holding my first blessing in my arms while finding out about our blessing #2. Crew was too concerned about the “wa-wa” in my solo cup to truly care about what was happening. Since I found out while my husband as at work, I was able to tell him when he got home! He was shocked to say the least! (I think he forgot how babies are made LOL)

Threw this together really quick - what I had on the counter for my husband when he got home from work!

Has this pregnancy been different than my first?

Drastically! When I found out I was having another boy, I was SHOCKED because this pregnancy has been so different than my first. With Crew, I had terrible food aversions and the nausea was pretty debilitating. With this pregnancy, I have been so fortunate to feel relatively normal! Besides some fatigue (which is expected being pregnant while chasing after a toddler), I have felt really good. Since I am heading into my third trimester, I am starting to feel the minor aches and pains that come with the growing belly. But a growing belly = a healthy, growing baby!

What I’m working on right now for baby 2:

I am working on designing the theme for his nursery. For Crew, we did a neural golf theme (you can see how it turned out here) We are thinking we want to stick with another golf theme, but I am hoping to add a more moody, vintage vibe! I feel in love with some green, plaid curtains I saw online, so those have been the inspo for the design.

I also am coming up with a list of “must-haves” to help with the transition from 1-2 and creating my “nesting to-do” list. We have done relatively nothing to prepare for this baby and that is officially about to change! (Panic is setting in that we only have ~12 weeks left)!

Have you picked a name?!

We had a few contenders we loved, and I think we have FINALLY officially committed to one! Boy names are so tough for us. I love a short, one-syllable name since our last name is pretty long. The name we decided on is actually the other boy name we were considering for Crew! I have only seen it used one other time (HINT: she was a previous bachelor contestant).

Thanks for following along on this journey. We are so excited! I am hoping to share several more pregnancy/mom-related blog posts in the near future, so stay tuned for those.
