Skincare Routine

Goodbye to the days of sleeping in our makeup and only putting on moisturizer when our skin is flaking (talking to my high-school self). As I’ve gotten older and my wrinkles a little deeper, I have realized the importance of taking care of my skin and have worked to establish a simple, yet effective skincare routine that works for me! It does not have to be 100 steps to make a difference. Instead, consistency is key! My skincare routine has become a cherished self-care ritual that helps me look and feel my best.

Step 1: Cleanse

First, I start by double-cleansing my face with a gentle, hydrating cleanser to remove any makeup, impurities, and excess oil. The consistency of this cleanser is a dream! It removes all of my makeup and leaves my face feeling so clean.

Step 2: Tone

Next, I apply a soothing toner to balance my skin's pH levels and prepare it for the next steps. I love that this one is alcohol free, so it doesn’t dry out my skin like other toners I have tried. Plus, the additional hyaluronic acid & vitamin E helps soften & moisturize my skin even a little more.

Step 3: Serum

In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum to help brighten my complexion and protect it from environmental damage. This is a newer addition to my skincare routine and was influenced by TikTok. Since adding this product I have noticed a big change in how glowy my skin looks under my makeup!

AM Serum: Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum

In the evening, I use a Vitamin A serum in place of Vitamin C. Vitamin A serves a crucial role in skincare by promoting cell turnover, stimulating collagen production and minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and enlarged pores. This is also a newer addition to my skincare routine (added once I stopped breastfeeding) and I can’t honestly say I have noticed a huge change yet, but I am trusting the process.

Step 4: Moisturize

After my serum, I moisturize. During the day, I prefer a a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep my skin hydrated throughout the day.

AM Moisturizer: Cera Ve Moisturizing Cream

Before bed, I focus on moisture retention and use a thicker night cream instead.

Step 5: Lip Treatment

The final step in my current skincare routine is moisturizing my lips. In the morning, I love lining my lips with a lip liner to give them color & shape, then I top them with the Laniege Lip sleeping mask. The sleeping mask is super moisturizing, but acts like a gloss without being super sticky.

Before bed, I use my tried and true Aquaphor Healing Ointment (yes, the diaper cream). I promise, you will wake up in the morning with your lips feeling like a baby’s bottom!
